COFA
Monday, November 30, 2009 at 05:17PM Wow it has been more than a year since my last entry on this blog. What an active blogger I am. I believe the only reason I haven't been blogging on there, besides the fact that I am a professional procrastinator, is because I have been micro-blogging on twitter. It is an easier medium for me and I get more responses. Most of my latest artwork are updated via twitter. I have uploaded some of the comics I have been drawing in the gallery section.
If you haven't been following me on twitter, about 6 months ago I applied for the Master of Digital Media in COFA and got admitted 4 days before the semester started. I immediately arranged my enrollment, and as I was rushing through paper work to get my student card and enrollment right, I received a phone call from COFA asking if I wanted to major in 3D CGI or Video. When I applied, I assumed I would be doing both. Apparently I was wrong. I am passionate about both CGI and Video, but I chose the one reason that I aimed for COFA since high school in the first place - 3D CGI.
I have been studying Writing for Digital Media (which is basically screen writing), Sound Construction (we meet again, Protools), 3D Foundation, and Video Art.
In 3D, we learnt about animation and photorealism. For my final assessment, I made a Cthulhu based on the design by Ian McConville and placed it in a real life photo. Because I was the procrastinator that I am, I rushed it and forgot some details (such as the white wings) but in the end the lecturer liked it and people think it's cute so it's all good. I have learnt so so so much from this class I couldn't believe it. I have uploaded the final rendering in the gallery.
That's all for now.
