What an active blogger I am. I believe the only reason I haven't been blogging on there, besides the fact that I am a professional procrastinator, is because I have been micro-blogging on twitter. It is an easier medium for me and I get more responses. Most of my latest artwork are updated via twitter. I have uploaded some of the comics I have been drawing in the gallery section.

If you haven't been following me on twitter, about 6 months ago I applied for the Master of Digital Media in COFA and got admitted 4 days before the semester started. I immediately arranged my enrollment, and as I was rushing through paper work to get my student card and enrollment right, I received a phone call from COFA asking if I wanted to major in 3D CGI or Video. When I applied, I assumed I would be doing both. Apparently I was wrong. I am passionate about both CGI and Video, but I chose the one reason that I aimed for COFA since high school in the first place - 3D CGI.

I have been studying Writing for Digital Media (which is basically screen writing), Sound Construction (we meet again, Protools), 3D Foundation, and Video Art.

In 3D, we learnt about animation and photorealism. For my final assessment, I made a Cthulhu based on the design by Ian McConville and placed it in a real life photo. Because I was the procrastinator that I am, I rushed it and forgot some details (such as the white wings) but in the end the lecturer liked it and people think it's cute so it's all good. I have learnt so so so much from this class I couldn't believe it. I have uploaded the final rendering in the gallery.

To be honest, I rarely go to the Apple store because... I would have to try not to embarrass myself by showing the apple fangirl in me. But I went there yesterday to exchange my charger because of a frayed cord. The customer service from everyone was very good. It definitely creates a different atmosphere than other stores. Everyone seems to genuinely care and the atmosphere doesn't feel commercial. The staff are all having fun, they don't seem to worry about making sales. The Apple store is definitely something unique.

Anyway, while I was waiting for the charger to be replaced, I noticed some staff were playing Guitar Hero 3. It has been a while since I have played so I decided to give it a shot after I finally receive my new charger. I played one track, the one that the Mac Experts left off. It was an easy song in Hard Mode, not very impressive. After I finished, I picked up my stuff and and ready to go. When I turned around there were 5-6 staff members applauding for me, one of them encouraged me to join their Guitar Hero 3 tournament on Saturday. I know I am not that good and they were just being very encouraging and friendly, but damn, they do know how to make it extra fun just being in the store. Now I don't mind visiting the store again now.

I only drew 3 staff members because it's pretty late and I am pretty tired and can't be bothered to draw 3 more.

Although, the only flaw is I cannot add www.coldv.net to my custom domain names. So if you add "www.", which I am sure some people still do by habit, it will direct you to an ugly parking page. By the way, I chose my domain registrar because it is Australian and accepts PayPal, since I do not have a visa card. I may transfer to GoDaddy next year, since my registrar doesn't accept eCheque from PayPal anymore, which is the only payment method I can use in PayPal.

This site is supposed to be chloetse.net by now but it is not working yet (at least not while I am typing this entry). Thanks to OneManga. It rekindled my interest in manga.

I also started talking to my estranged old friend, Sin, again. She shared a lot of interesting links to be that I posted to my tumblr. One of the links she sent me was a collection of parody of a page from Haou Airen, a manga that I dislike.

Haou Airen is a smutty and soapy manga, about a Japanese girl who encountered a young mob boss from Hong Kong and helped him dress his wound. He then kidnapped her to Hong Kong, they fell in love, blah blah blah. Full of dramas, plot holes (how was she able to communicate with strangers on the street of Hong Kong!?), and factual inaccuracy (pinky swear is a Japanese thing!? Give me a break!), this comic is truly for people who love dramatic shoujo manga. I have a lot more to complain about this manga, but I'll save it.

Anyway, back to the parody. One scene in the manga was when the mob boss was performing his martial arts (or so the mangaka calls it) in front of the girl and she was turned on by it. That page was absolutely ridiculous and looks like this:

WTF is this supposed to be!

Apparently many others thought it was brilliant. In honor of this scene, they made several parodies:

The seller honestly said in the description that the app does nothing at all other than displaying the picture of a gem. Apple would have a reason to take it off the store if the description was inaccurate, but it is not. Armin Heinrich knew it would be approved as long as it is legitimate according to the terms and conditions. So, at least to me, this is absolutely not a scam or fraud, because when you do pay for it, you'd get exactly what he said you'd get.

Second, he knew someone, somewhere, in this world, who owns an iPhone, will buy this app. It is almost 100% certain when you really think about it. There has to be a few rich bastards somewhere who can afford to waste a thousand dollars on this app just for the fun of it. It is sort of like when I was in Beijing with my brother, and he wanted to try some deep fried insects just so he and his friends could have a laugh when he tells them "I ate some bugs in Beijing just for the heck of it". It's the same mentality, except, instead of bugs-eating, the guy is filthy rich and could go to his buddies and say "I actually bought this app for shits and giggles.
